A graduate of the SI School at Syracuse University, with a degree in advertising and marketing, Susan took a circuitous route to fashion design. In the early ‘80’s she began her career at the notable advertising agency, Ogilvy & Mather in New York. After a few years she moved back to her hometown, Pittsburgh, PA, to work in the family insurance business.
Twenty years later, Susan Farber Collections was born. It was back to New York where she had started. Susan’s passion for fashion and business came together when she launched Susan Farber Collections; a collection of beautiful handbags in gorgeous Italian leathers made in New York. Business grew to an international level in just five years.
A bit on the edge, her bags are adorned with the latest trend, interpreted her way. Zippered ruffle trims, swinging fringe, blossoming bows, combined with Italian hardware, rich, vibrant colors and textures. They are original, lightweight and easy to carry.
Recently, Henri Bendel in New York singled out Susan Farber Collections as a “Must Have Accessory” for Spring/Summer, 2009; featuring her bags in their Fifth Avenue windows and in an exclusive in-store boutique.
On the national and international front, Harvey Nichols and hundreds of other boutiques carry her bags. The fashion magazines, Elle, Elle Accessories, Lucky and more have featured her handbags inside of their pages. And, many celebrities have been noticed carrying her bags.
Susan lives in Pittsburgh, Pa with her adoring husband and their three growing boys.
